Die Hard cricket fans of Kolkata will miss the much anticipated India vs England match on Feb 27 during the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup.
The reason: The ground (Eden Gardens) is not ready!
But the ICC announced its decision yesterday, blaming delays to renovation work.
“We will work with the new venue, the tour operators and the ticket distributors to manage the logistical challenges that will surely arise,” said tournament director Ratnakar Shetty.
The ICC was unable to confirm if three other matches scheduled for Eden Gardens — South Africa v Ireland on March 15, Ireland v Holland on March 18, and Kenya v Zimbabwe two days later – would remain at the venue.
